Richard Jones (born 1831) and Ann Parry (born about 1834) were the paternal grandparents of Elizabeth Jones. They had five children who lived past childhood: Eleanor (b. 1859), Howell Parry Jones (b. (1862), Rees Jones (b. 1863), Mary Ann (b. 1869), and Elizabeth (b. 1872). Only Howell Parry Jones, the father of Elizabeth (b. 1895) did not come to America; he died in Wales in 1928.

Sarah Ann James Jones, Elizabeth's mother, came to America with her three children who lived past childhood: Margaret Ann (b. 1892), Reese (b. 1894), and Elizabeth (b. 1895). They came before 1917, the year of Margaret Ann's marriage to John Melvin Renshaw.

In 1919 Elizabeth married Orvill Vanoix Barney. There is no record of Reese ever getting married. He died in Salt Lake City in 1939. Elizabeth died in 1966, also in Salt Lake City. And her sister Margaret Ann died in 1970.
