Lewis Rowe first migrated to America with his wife Eleanor about 1871. Soon after, their daughter Mary Jane was born in Pennsylvania. Because Eleanor was unhappy in America they returned to Wales after a short time. Sophia Ann and David John were born while the family in Wales in 1874 and 1878 respectively. Eleanor died in childbirth in 1881 with twins, who also passed away. A few years later, Lewis and his children migrated back to America.
