Noah married (1) Esther Lewis 19 July 1836 in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, Wales.

Noah came to America with his wife, Esther Lewis, and their surviving daughter in first ship of Welsh immigrants. His wife Esther died of cholera as the group traveled upriver from New Orleans. His second wife, Mary Owens, and family had traveled to American in the second ship, because the first one did not have enough room for all who wanted to go. Her husband died of cholera as they too traveled upriver from New Orleans. By 1852 both Noah and his second wife Mary also died, leaving six young children as orphans. All five of the girls made it to Utah, apparently in 1852, and married. The one boy did not make it to Utah.
