Dear Son and Daughter and Grandchildren,
I have now the opportunity of writing these few lines to you hoping they will come to our hands
and find you in good health better than it leaves me. I have been waiting a long time to hear from
you but have been disappointed. I received a letter from you dated Aug. 13, 1872 and I answered
it direct and I never heard anything of you since. So, I think my letter or yours must have been
lost, but I hope this will come safe to you to your home. I have been very anxious to hear from
you, and my importunity hindered me to write sooner. You said in your letter that you had a sad
accident after you arrived at Salt Lake but I hope you are alright now. I shall not enlarge at
present lest this should not fall into your hands, but if it should please, write to me as soon as
possible and let me know how you are and how you like your new settlement. I hope with the
blessings of God that you are comfortable. I shall not send any particulars in this. Please give
my kindest love and blessings to Margaret and all my grandchildren a thousand times and please
except the same for yourself. Please to write to me as you receive this letter and let me know all
particulars. Please to address you letter Benjamin Thomas to the left at the Neptune Strand,
Swansea, Glamorganshire, Wales.
(On the revers side is written: Mr. Evan A. Lewis - Sir, If this should fall into your hands and
Philip Thomas nor family not to be found, please send me a few lines with all the particulars you
can give of them, in so doing you will greatly oblige your humble servant.
Benjamin Thomas
