Goold, Samuel William 03 - Foreword

FOREWORD

In transcribing this journal of my g-grandfather I've grown to love him and appreciate the effort, the struggle and the great faith he had.  It has been a very humbling experience.  As I got to know the family by reading his journal I wanted to see them so my search for pictures began.  Adding pictures opened a new dimenion to re work the pages.  Some corrections had to be made by looking at the original in Provo.  Most of my work was done at odd times while raising an active family.  When I could not read the poor copy I prayed and continued supplication to know what was right.  The Lord's spirit enabled the work to go ahead.

A special thanks to my husband, Jim for all the many times he rescued me.  I would turn to him for help.  Thanks to my son,Ken for help and son -law, Jim Burgess for keeping my computer running.  I have to laugh at all the little questions I showered on by brother in law, Ron Walker.  His advice was invaluable in tracking down historic photos.

A very special thanks goes to all the cousins who sent their family addresses, pictures and family group sheets.  At one time I had hopes for a complete book with all of the descendants of Robert F. Goold and Emma Watts and also William Lewis and Sarah Lever.  But it was an impossible task, especially since I have not been able to contact so many of the different branches.  I feel this journal will be a good connecting point for many of the ggrand children.

As the time came to add pictures to the journal I called on several people for help.  The invaluable assistance of Jacqie Haller in formating; and Steve Rivera at Our Print Shop for his advise on how to put it together.  Thank you for your help and patience.  A big thanks to Ann Marie Picklesimer for help in formating.

Thanks to the many friends and cousins who encouraged me along the way.

A great Joy has filled my heart and carried me along.  My hope for the younger generation is that they have an interest to see where their family came from.  Then to continue with their own family history or continue to do original research.
