James Lewis
James Lewis was born in a little town in South Wales, on August 17, 1846.
He was the son of William Lewis and Sarah Leaver [Lever]. He worked in the steel mills with his father
from the time he was very small until he was fifteen years. of
age. He was the second of ten children. On
Sunday his father returned from church and said, "James how would you like
to go to Utah?
Now James had been a member of the church for some time, and he had a
true testimony of the Gospel. His
greatest ambition was to go to Utah some day, but little had he dreamed it
would come so soon. He could hardly
believe what he heard. He jumped up and
down as he said, "Oh Father! Could
I?" from
