MARGARET MORSE JONES
(1853-1934)
Margaret Morse Jones was born 10
March 1853 at Merthyr Tydfil,
Wales, the daughter of John and Ann Bennett Morse. She came to the United
States with her parents in 1865, crossing the Atlantic ocean
on the old vessel “Maywood,” which sank on its return voyage. After spending
one year in St. Louis, Missouri, they crossed the plains in the Lott Smith
Company, arriving in Logan, Utah, in the late summer of 1866.
She married Ricy
Davis Jones 18 October 1868; and they made their home in Wellsville, Utah,
where Margaret lived until her death. Ricy and
Margaret were the parents of eleven children. Margaret died 18 August 1934 and
is buried in the Wellsville cemetery.
