Elias Jones's first wife Mary died 16 July 1854, just two weeks after giving birth to their ninth child, a little girl named Hannah. Then three months before sailing on the "S. Curling" Elias married Mary's widowed sister Hannah. The little girl Hannah died on 28 May 1856, only five days after the ship reached Boston. Elias's wife Hannah died 6 March 1860, about four years after their coming to America.
