Mother of Local Man
Dies in Provo Hospital
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon in the
Fifth Ward chapel for Mrs. Mary Jane Reese, 86, mother of Eldon Reese of this
city, who died Monday at a Provo
hospital of ailments incident to age.
Bishop Grant S. Thorn was in charge.
Additional services are being held today (Thursday) at 3
p.m. at the graveside at Bloomington,
Idaho, under direction of the A.
Y. Wheeler and Son Mortuary.
Friends will call at the home of a son, Ivan Reese at Bloomington before the
services.
Mrs. Reese was born in Pentyrch,
Glamorganshire, South Wales, England,
March 31, 1868, daughter of Wm. and Elizabeth Jones John. She came to the United
States at the age of 12 years and made her home in Bloomington. She married Lotwick
Reese December 11 1884, in the Logan LDS temple. Mr. Reese died in 1929.
Mrs. Reese joined the LDS church shortly after coming to
this country and had been active in church work for many years. For the past 12 years she had made her home
with her son, Eldon, in Springville.
Survivors include five sons and daughters: Mrs. LaVina Hunter,
Los Angeles; Ivan T. and A. Victor Reese of Bloomington, Ida.; Merrill J.
Reese, Heber; Eldon Reese, Springville; 18 grandchildren; 12 great
grandchildren; a half-brother, Lotwick L. Reese, and
a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Price, Salt Lake City.
