BIOGRAPHY OF ELEANOR LLOYD GRIFFITHS
Eleanor Lloyd Griffiths came to Utah in the year
1864. She crossed the plains in Germany and Bywaters Company.
She walked the greater part of the distance from the Missouri River to
the Salt Lake Valley.
At this time she had two children,
Mary Ann, age four years and James Lloyd, age six months. She carried James Lloyd on her back. During the trip she was compelled to wade the Platte
River several times.
She settled in Beaver, where she
worked very hard to care for her children as her husband did not come to her
for a year and a half after she arrived in Beaver.
He arrived in the year 1866 and they
resided there until 1897. They went
through many hardships helping to settle new cities and towns.
In 1897 they moved to Idaho and lived there
for two years when the husband died, leaving his widow to follow him on January
10, 1911. They were the parents of nine
children.
They were loved and respected by all
who knew them and were staunch Latter-Day Saints until the time of their death.
At this time there are two children
living, David J. Griffiths and Margaret G. England.
