TO THE WELSH PRESIDENTS
DEAR BRETHREN,--After speaking to you many times about your duties with regard to the book debts and other things, I now take this opportunity to write to you again. I particularly call your attention to the Epistle of Pres. F. D. Richards in number 26 of the TRUMPET for last year pertaining to debts for books, etc. That which was said there pertains to us in Wales as well and holds true for the Welsh books as well as for the English. It is requested that each District and Branch do their best to clear the debt which they have always, especially at this time when there is such a great need for money to print the Book of Mormon, not only for those who have given their names now, but for the hundreds who will yet give them in the years to come. The East Glamorgan District has come to the unanimous decision to clear the entire debt; and the greater part of the branches have already cleared up all of their old debts and their new ones, yes, and the branches which receive more than anyone else in Wales have given a good example by clearing their debts before the others. Monmouthshire intends to do the same. Some fast as much as once each month for this purpose and others are devising other means; and my you, presiding brethren, in every place, come up with the methods which you deem best to pay your debts for Welsh and English books, so that such fetters will not be an obstacle to the success of the work of God in your midst. If you obey this
counsel, you will see great blessings in your labors. Take care also that all the Epistles from the Valley and from the British Presidency together with those from the Welsh Presidency are read in the meetings of the Saints, so that all the Saints may know their contents and so they will receive additional nourishment through them. No meeting can be better spent than through reading the epistles from the First Presidency and others, the objective of which is to assist the people concerning those which pertain to their salvation.
