Mansfield, Elizabeth Ann (Williams) - Biography

ELIZABETH ANN WILLIAMS MANSFIELD

Elizabeth Ann Williams Mansfield was born in Llandeilorfan Parish, Breconshire, Wales to Samuel D. Williams and Elizabeth Ann Parry on March 22, 1867. Elizabeth Ann was about eighteen months old when they came to Samaria. As a young girl she worked hard tending the sick, especially when new babies were born in the settlement of Samaria. To do this, many times she had to walk long distances regardless of the weather.

In 1883, she was married to Brigham Y. Mansfield. They were the parents of thirteen children. "Aunt Lizzie" was very active in the LDS Church. In 1921, she served in the Relief Society as counselor with Jennie Petersen and Hannah Thorpe. She was also a block teacher for many years.

Aunt Lizzie loved to quilt and was always ready to leave her own work to help others. She was a very good cook and housekeeper; it was no one left her home without a bite to eat regardless of the time of day. She attended all ward functions if possible, often adding to the program by performing a little song and dance with Sam Williams as her partner.

In the winter of 1933 she was called to labor in the Logan LDS Temple, along with two companions from Samaria. After a long life of service to her family, Church and friends she passed away at her home in Samaria on April 18, 1949. She was laid to rest beside her husband in Samaria.
